Status: Competition proposal

The proposal positions the new library along Kuldīgas Street.
Its elongated building volume establishes a functional connection between two significant urban destinations:
the kindergarten to the north and the centre of the Gāliņciems neighbourhood to the southeast.

The architectural form of the library is derived from prototypes of Gāliņciems' historic building typologies,
which are reinterpreted as spatial modules within the building's composition.
As a result, despite its substantially larger programme and scale, the public building adopts the characteristic rhythm
and human scale of Gāliņciems, integrating organically into the existing urban fabric and
becoming a natural extension of the surrounding built environment.
