OFFICE BUILDING

New office building / Location: Marupe county, Latvia
Year : 2023 / Size: 825 m2
Status: Competition proposal

A well-known local paving manufacturer wanted to create a new office building
that would showcase the company’s products through both
the architecture and the surrounding public space.
The competition proposal included a landscaped exhibition area in front of the building,
where a wide range of the company’s products would be presented as one unified composition.

One of the basic principles of visual perception is that information presented vertically
has a stronger visual impact than the same information presented horizontally.
Based on this idea, the main façade of the office building was designed as a kind of vertical screen
made of polished metal louvers. The angle of the louvers was carefully designed
so that visitors in the exhibition area could see the products
from different perspectives — both up close and from above.
This would allow visitors not only to look at individual products in detail,
but also to see the entire range of products as a whole.

As visitors move around the exhibition area and change their viewing angle,
the image of the space reflected in the metal louvers also changes.
The reflection continuously shifts with the viewer’s position, creating the impression of a dynamic,
living screen. In this way, the façade becomes more than just the architectural face of the building.
It becomes a changing visual element that connects the building, the exhibition and its visitors.
